Game design and flow experience: reflection and challenges from the perspective of flow theory

Abstract


Flow Theory indicates flow as a psychological state of optimal experience, heightened concentration and satisfaction, which results from a challenging and goal-oriented activity. In this work, we conduct a reflection of different game design aspects, elements and challenges from the perspective of Flow Theory, bringing relevant themes for providing an optimal game experience.
