Abstract

This article aims is to discuss the aspect of minority representation presented in current digital games, checking whether this representation is considered sufficient, expected, and adequate for this defined target audience. Therefore, this study investigates how the lack of representation (of race, gender, and sexuality) in the gaming industry affects its consumers and propagates harmful patterns, currently in force. As method, the article adopts a systematic review based on Mancini and Sampaio's proposal. Fifteen articles were obtained, highlighting the lack of diversity of representations and the urgent need to promote diversity in the game development teams themselves.

Keywords: representativity, diversity, identity, digital games
