Abstract

Gender inequality between men and women is a relevant problem in the gaming area. The United Nations (UN) highlights, in its fifth objective of sustainable development, the need to address gender equality. Women are still a minority in the technology area and related university courses. This study presents a participatory approach to developing a prototype game about gender equality. The participation of girls from public schools made it possible for the girls to have closer contact with concepts related to the areas of computing. Therefore, we expect that more participatory applications with girls will lead to greater engagement of women in technology courses.
