Environmental Education and Player Involvement in Alba: A Wild Adventure

Abstract


In the face of the need for recruiting a greater portion of the society to act for the benefit of the nature, it is needed to implement Environmental Education (EE) through distinct means, including digital games. This paper uses the Player Involvement Model as basis to analyse the entertainment game “Alba: a wildlife adventure” under the perspective of the EE. Several game elements are cited and associated to different currents of the EE and player involvement dimensions. In conclusion, the game moves through the six involvement dimensions and can be used as reference for the development of future applications which aims the EE.
