Abstract

Educational games are important assistance tools in education with proven benefits. Its effectiveness is related to the engagement level a student can direct to the game, however, there is still no consensus about the way to promote it and keep it. Furthermore, educational games diverge themselves by the need to attend different groups in many socioeconomic and cultural contexts, which can be potentially made through customizations in open games. This paper presents the conception process of a guideline group with 78 guidelines to support developers and teachers to develop, customize and apply open engaging educational games.
