Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the work dynamics of software development teams with the sudden adoption and subsequent continuity of remote work. New practices were adopted to maintain the relationships among team members, mediated through computational tools. However, this represents an additional challenge for people with visual or hearing impairments. This study identifies the different experiences of professionals with and without these deficiencies for maintaining awareness while working remotely. To achieve this goal, 93 responses collected via an online form from professionals, with and without visual and hearing impairment, were analyzed. The results point to different experiences of the groups with the use of collaborative tools in relation to the social aspects of remote collaboration.
