Requirement identification through the Lean Startup cycle to connect People with Disabilities to Services

Abstract

According to the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD, 2022), the population with disabilities in Brazil corresponds to 8% of the inhabitants (18.6 million). However, digital services rarely meet specific demands from this audience, such as accessibility adaptations or information about trained professionals. This article applies the ‘Measure’ and ‘Learn’ stages of the lean startup cycle to collect data on challenges faced by people with disabilities when contracting general services. Through qualitative interviews with three groups - people with disabilities, their caregivers and individuals from both contexts - critical gaps were identified, such as the need for collaborative systems that prioritize recommendations, personalization of profiles and assessment of physical and digital accessibility.
