Abstract

Among the main challenges for monitoring Data Centers, one can list the large number of parameters that can influence their correct functioning (e.g. temperature, humidity, energy sources, among others). In this way, monitoring Data Centers is of paramount importance to avoid losses, both in terms of data (information) and financial aspects. This paper presents a monitoring system for Data Centers (DCMonitor), using the concepts of Smart Campus, Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The system was deployed in the Data Center of an university, and an experiment was carried out for 15 days, in order to evaluate the communication performance using three different modulations defined by the IEEE 802.15.4g standard: SUN-FSK, SUN-OQPSK and SUN-OFDM. As can be seen in the obtained results, it was identified that the modulation that best fits the presented scenario is the SUN-OQPSK.
