Grand Challenges for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Software Development
Abstract
Collaboration and teamwork are critical factors in determining the success of software projects. Diverse teams outperform non-diverse groups in problem-solving, even when the latter have the best professionals. Therefore, incorporating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is essential in software development. Despite the growing interest in DEI, software development teams still have a limited DEI practice focusing more on diversity. This proposal aims to address the issue and encourage software professionals to explore the impact of DEI on software development. By understanding the benefits of the practice, we can incorporate DEI into our work and improve our software team’s productivity and creativity.
