Fostering the Rational Disposal of Solid Waste in Communities Through the Use of Technology: A Case Study in the Community of Coelhos Recife-PE

Abstract


The management of urban solid waste is an issue that continues to challenge governments in the search for adequate solutions to solve this problem, especially in needy communities. In this scenario, this article presents a PWA application to assist residents of the Coelhos community, Recife/PE, in the proper disposal of specific solid waste, using geospatial systems to indicate the best route between the resident's current location and the appropriate collection point for a given type of waste. All deliveries are registered and can generate discounts on products and services in local commerce for the resident. The app also offers so-called knowledge pills on sustainable environmental management.
