Unveiling Fishing in the Middle Araguaia-Tocantins Basin
Abstract
The study on fishing in the Medium Araguaia-Tocantins Basin investigated 18 fishing communities in 7 municipalities in Pará, analyzing the Tocantins, Araguaia, and Itacaiúnas rivers. The research aimed to understand the fishing activity in these regions, highlighting the importance of sustainability and participatory management. Data were collected and analyzed through self-monitoring of fishing, revealing productive differences among the studied territories. The results point to the need to consider environmental and socioeconomic factors in fisheries management in the region.
