Infraestruturas de Dados Espaciais na Integração entre Ciência e Comunidades para Promover a Sustentabilidade Ambiental
Resumo
Este artigo explora maneiras de ampliar as infraestruturas de dados espaciais (IDE) tradicionais em direção ao conceito de Digital Earth, com o objetivo de suportar políticas ambientais que levem à sustentabilidade. A definição dessas políticas precisa levar em conta fenômenos em várias escalas, da microbiologia até impactos sobre o clima global. Existem múltiplas visões conflitantes sobre a mesma realidade, incluindo as de cientistas, formuladores de políticas e cidadãos. Atualmente, a combinação de tecnologias, pessoas e políticas que compõe uma IDE é provavelmente a melhor aproximação disponível para resolver esses problemas, mas faltam alguns elementos importantes. O artigo discute limitações das IDEs atuais quanto ao fluxo de dados e informação, semântica e formação de comunidades.
