Customizable Chatbot Based on Generative AI for Academic Content Information in Public Higher Education Institutions
Abstract
In Brazilian public Higher Education Institutions, the workload overload of professors and administrative staff has negatively impacted support for incoming students, hindering their adaptation and contributing to dropout rates. To address this, the Interactive Module for Academic Content chatbot was developed, a generative AI-based system that provides personalized responses and includes a management module for coordinators. Evaluation results from academic administrators and students using the System Usability Scale (SUS) showed high acceptance, with 92.3% of administrators acknowledging its importance and 85% of students recommending the tool. It is concluded that MICA is a promising solution to improve student support, though further adjustments are needed to enhance its effectiveness in generating custom responses.References
