Multi-Agent Simulation of the Kiss Nightclub Evacuation: The Importance of NBR 9.077 and its Relation to 'Panic'

Abstract


This paper is based on the evacuation scenario of Kiss Nightclub Tragedy in 2013. Marked by imprudence and negligence to the national security standards, the event resulted in many victms. The simulations were modeled with NetLogo using MultiAgents approach based on real data of the Nightclub and an ‘ideal’ scenario using the security standard NBR 9.077 of ABNT (Brazilian National Regulamentation). The environment was modeled using Kiss blue print. Panic was modeled using psychology embasement of the literature. Results showed the importance of following the security standards imposed by ABNT that lead to safe evacuations of Brazilian buildings. The conclusion showed how important is this standard to make panic disseminate more slowly on emergency scenarios.
