Abstract

According to UNESCO, when we focus on the realm of computing, the underrepresentation of women becomes even more apparent, both in academic and professional settings: only 5% of software development professionals are women, and in 61 out of 115 countries, female graduates in Computer Science represent less than 30% of the total graduates. Therefore, the gender inequality scenario within the Technology fields is noticeable in industry events or competitions. In this context, this paper aims to conduct a comparative and quantitative analysis of the gender of participants in the Brazilian Informatics Olympiad (OBI) to understand female representation in this competition.
