Developing skills in STEM areas through conversations and workshops
Abstract
Studies indicate that girls are less interested in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), not due to cognitive incapacity, but because of political issues, lack of educational, social, cultural structure, and mainly due to stereotypes. This article presents actions of Project Ada, an extension project aimed at promoting female participation in STEM areas. The proposed activities include conversation circles, screenings of thematic films, and workshops for digital game development aimed at raising awareness about the low representation of women in these fields.References
