Abstract

In the literature, some works discuss the low number of women in undergraduate courses in the technology area, which may be related to the low female participation in the job market. However, concerning women who work in the job market, what are their main motivations to stay in the technology area? What are their expectations? Given this context, this paper presents an exploratory study that investigated women as software development practitioners in the Release Engineering area of the Research Institute Eldorado. Among the results obtained, it was noted that professional appreciation and female representation motivate them to stay in the area. The results obtained in this research can collaborate with other research that aims to understand aspects that encourage women to remain in the job market, including the engagement of more women in the technology area.
