Abstract

The presence of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is still significantly lower than that of men, reflecting a persistent gender inequality in these areas. The Emílias project has taken steps to promote the presence of women in computing. This study analyzes interviews from the Emílias podcast to identify the challenges and factors that can motivate girls to work in this field. The study aims to broaden the debate on gender equality and highlight the importance of inclusion initiatives. The methodology was based on socio-technical grounded theory. The findings point to various prejudices and the importance of support networks for women to remain in the area.
