Avaliação de Estratégias de Quarentena e Vacinação em Epidemias em Redes
Abstract
An epidemic is characterized by a transient disease that infects a large part of a population, and becomes a pandemic when the spread is global. Several factors influence the impact of an epidemic, including quarantine (isolation) and vaccination (immunization) of part of the population. The objective of this work is to evaluate different quarantine and vaccination scenarios in network epidemics, also observing the role of the network structure. Through simulation of a classic epidemic model on different networks, we quantify the evolution of the epidemic over time in different containment scenarios, presenting a qualitative discussion of the results. One of the most interesting results indicate that shorter quarantines with higher population adherence are more effective in reducing the infection peak than longer quarantines with lower adherence.
