Performance analysis of dynamic optical networks equipped with gain-saturated EDFAs
Abstract
This paper presents a study about benefits that the elimination of EDFA gain saturation may have on the performance of a Transparent Optical Network. It is developed an analytical model to estimate the behavior of the EDFA gain variation considering amplifier input power and global network traffic. Impairment Aware RWA algorithm (IA-RWA) is also proposed as a form to evaluate the impact of the amplifiers gain saturation on the performance of the dynamic optical network.References
