Análise sobre Viés de Gênero no Youtube: Um Estudo sobre as Eleições Presidenciais de 2018 e 2022
Abstract
There is a lot of discussion about the role of social networks in society, as their algorithms end up reinforcing prevailing discourses and limiting the circulation of minority social group agendas. This study investigates the presence of gender bias through sentiment analysis of comments on YouTube videos produced by news channels containing the names of men and/or women in the video titles. To this end, the Brazilian scenarios of the 2018 and 2022 presidential elections were chosen, using the pySentimiento sentiment classifier with quantitative and statistical analyses through the chi-square test. The research results revealed the presence of gender bias for the 2022 data but were inconclusive for 2018.
