PAR (Ask, Assist, Receive): A collaborative tabletop multi-touch game to support social interaction of users with autism
Abstract
This is the summary of a master thesis which aims to design and evaluate collaboration dimensions in a multi-touch tabletop application developed to encourage the collaborative work and social interaction among users with high impairment of autism. We only found similar studies for users with mild autism, which was one of the motivations for carrying out the work. Therefore, we designed and evaluated the PAR game (acronym in Portuguese for Ask, Help, Receive) with four dimensions of collaboration, in a group of youngsters with high impairment of autism. The results suggest that each collaboration dimension motivates the necessity for collaboration and encourages the creation of interactive situations between users.
