TEIA (Special Topics in Artificial Intelligence) collaborative Brazil-UK: promoting virtual exchange, internationalization, and learning in Generative AI in computing courses
Abstract
This paper presents a pilot experience of international collaboration promoting virtual exchange among undergraduate and graduate students in computing, involving a cross-cutting theme of great importance, the Generative AI framework, to attract multiple interests and areas of computing and provide a rich, cheap and accessible form of internationalization, celebrating a cooperation agreement between universities in Brazil and England: the Federal University of Amazonas and the University of Manchester. The students exercised teamwork skills, collaborative activities of resource collection, content understanding, tool manipulation, and project development, and they communicated in English. At the same time, Generative AI was explored in diverse application scenarios, culminating in small joint projects. The results, both of the interaction and the artifacts generated during and after the subject, proved valuable to validate the proposal of a larger-scale discipline and in understanding the rich possibilities, low cost, and need for few resources, that a proposal of (virtual) exchange and internationalization such as this one can promote.References
