Portable device prototype for money banknote handle

Abstract

This project consists in developing a prototype of a device that can identify colors and money to facilitate the daily lives of blind people or with some kind of visual impairment. The prototype consists of a microcontroller and a color sensor that stores the values obtained in a computer and then uses them as a basis in the classification step. The algorithms KNN, SVM, Naive Bayes and Decision Tree were used. The first classification results were satisfactory since no preprocessing was applied to the data. There are still many approaches to be implemented in order to improve the classification success rate as well as techniques to improve sensor reading.
