Abstract

Misinformation and the spread of fake news are problems around the world. This article appears as a contribution to the control of the spread of fake news, and aims to present MAIA, a smartphone game that, based on questions about the veracity or not of news, projected in AR on totems scattered in public squares, stimulates the development of the critical sense of its users in an attractive and pleasant way. The project was born from research through three methods of data collection, online form, interview and netnography, which raised the public's greatest pain related to disinformation. Based on the data obtained, a gamified solution was developed, which aims to stimulate the critical sense of its users through the analysis of news. From Marilena Chaui's reflection, the user, challenged by the game, has his state of ignorance confronted, being taken by uncertainty and insecurity, making him realize his ignorance and resulting in the stimulus for the search for the truth.
