Abstract

The number of older people has been increasing considerably. Thus, it is necessary to develop strategies to help people grow old healthy and live an active life. Digital technologies can contribute to this. However, these technologies are not designed to address the needs and expectations of older people. Stimulating the participation of older people in interaction codesign processes may be a possible solution. However, engaging the elderly subject in the codesign process is quite challenging. This paper presents our current efforts to identify and validate requirements for engagement of the elderly subject in the interaction codesign process for digital technology production. Through an ongoing case study, the first results lead to a reflection on the challenges and difficulties in making elderly subjects design partners, as well as some evidence that may favor a more effective engagement throughout the process.
