The Proceedings of the 14th Symposium on Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing (SBAC-PAD 2002) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Vitória/ES, Brazil, from October 28-30, 2002. In this issue, the proceedings include 26 full papers. These papers were selected through peer review. The SBAC-PAD 2002 program committee was coordinated by Claudio L. Amorim (UFRJ), who organized this volume together with Alberto Ferreira De Souza (UFES), the SBAC-PAD 2002 chair. The articles in this volume were submitted on 07/02/2002, accepted for publication on 08/05/2002, with the final version submitted on 08/13/2002.
