Abstract

This paper presents a Virtual Reality simulator equipped with haptic devices which aims to simulate the preparation of teeth to receive restorations or endodontic treatment. This task involves uses of rotatory drill tools for removing small portions of the enamel and dentin from tooth. The paper describes in general terms the simulator developed, the process of virtual teeth modeling and the adaptation of a haptic device with 3 degrees-of-freedom to 6 degrees-of-freedom.
