Development of Applications for Medical Image Visualization on Mobile Devices

Abstract


Mobile devices, such as cell-phones and tablets, have a great potential for application in many areas of medicine. In this work, we present the development of an application, called InVesalius Mobile, for 3D medical image visualization in mobile devices using the Android platform. Besides the software features, we discuss many aspects of the development on this platform and the great potential of the application distribution channel Google Play, also using the experience with other application (e-Med) developed for querying the ANVISA drugs database with more than 38.000 downloads. Both softwares are free and open-source.
