Abstract

A visualization of the result of a computerized tomographic (CT) exam in 3D increases the quality of the medical diagnosis. To obtain a high quality 3D image it is necessary to obtain slices (the CT result) which are close to each other. Partial Differential Equations have been used to fill in the damaged regions in a digital image. Inspired by this idea, this article proposes an interpolation method for filling empty regions between the real CT slices, therefore creating virtual slices, permitting the reconstruction of the structure in three dimensions, mapped onto the exam. Results show that the proposed method is capable of reconstructing the curvatures of the patient’s internal structures.
