Abstract

The Larval Therapy (LT) is an alternative method for treatment hard healing wounds. It uses immature flies for cleaning these wounds, decreasing the need of amputations. A more efficient use of LT considers the wound area. For this calculation invasive techniques are usually used, like manual planimetry with plastic film. We investigate a noninvasive technique to guide LT with image analysis of wounds. This paper presents the use of Watershed algorithm to semi-automatic segmentation of wounds that will be submitted to LT.
