The Proceedings of the 17th Medical Informatics Workshop (WIM 2017) bring the papers selected and presented at the edition of the event held in São Paulo, on July 2 and 6, as part of the 37th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2017), which had the theme "Computing for everything and everyone". In this edition, the proceedings include 23 full papers and 15 works in progress. These papers were selected through a peer review, from a total of 61 full papers and 38 works in progress submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 37.5% and 39.5%, respectively. The event's program committee was coordinated by Paulo Eduardo Ambrósio (UESC), who organized this volume.
