The Proceedings of the 16th Brazilian Symposium on Information and Computational Systems Security (SBSeg 2016) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Niterói/RJ, from November 07 to 10, 2016. In this issue, the proceedings include 31 full papers. These papers were selected through a double-blind review, from a total of 87 full papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 35%. The event's program committee was coordinated by Leonardo B. Oliveira (UFMG) and Pedro B. Velloso (UFRJ), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on 07/03/2016, and accepted for publication on 09/12/2016, with the final version submitted on 09/26/2016.
