A look at the first editions of the Workshop on Computational Thinking and Inclusion: understanding the relations established

Abstract

Inclusion is an important topic in the educational context and therefore strategies are being sought to make it effective. Computational Thinking can be seen as an element that favors inclusion. To understand the relationships between these two areas, an analysis of the 30 articles published in the Computational Thinking and Inclusion Workshop was conducted, 15 from the 2022 edition and 15 from 2023. The aim of the study was to examine the perspectives of Computational Thinking, the different types of research and activity proposals, and to identify gaps and opportunities, focusing on contexts related to inclusion. The findings indicate progress in the research, but also show the need for a greater understanding of how Computational Thinking can be inserted into the context of inclusion and diversity and demonstrate the need for further studies aimed at integrating Computational Thinking into inclusive education practice.
