Abstract

This paper makes a survey of some of the main features for the assessment of mobility in an infrastructured IEEE 802.11 network that has high prevalence. The study is based in a feature to enable nodes with low mobility within the network, so a node may be self identified with high prevalence and consequently, considered to decrease the volume of control and management traffic to verify the connection with the access point (AP). The experimental results show that with different levels of node mobility is possible to identify the time intervals for activating an adaptive mechanism in the protocol, based on two parameters: the signal noise variation and the prevalence with the access point.
