The Proceedings of the 16th Regional Database School (ERBD 2021) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Santa Maria/RS, during the period September 13-15, 2021. In this issue, the proceedings include 13 full papers and 8 short papers. These papers were selected through a blind peer-review process, from a total of 16 full papers and 10 short papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 81% and 80%, respectively. The event's program committee was coordinated by Guilherme Dal Bianco (UFFS) and Eduardo Borges (FURG), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on July 5, 2021, accepted for publication on July 30, 2021, with the final version submitted on August 7, 2021.
