A user-centered development methodology for a prevention and early diagnosis system of Chronic Kidney Disease

Abstract


Early diagnosis of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and its treatment in initial stages in populations with risk factors may improve the patient’s quality of life and slow the disease progression. The realization of a User-centered design was the basis for the requirements specification of a software system to aid the early diagnosis and the referral of patients at risk of CKD to a nephrologist. The referring is performed by the risk identification of CKD and the information exchange between patient and nephologist using a clinical document based in the Health Level Seven (HL7) Clinical Document Architecture (CDA).
