Evaluation of Parental Competence in Managing Children's Privacy in Digital Environments

Abstract


A disseminação do uso de plataformas digitais por crianças intensificou as preocupações quanto à adequação das proteções de privacidade existentes. A legislação atribui aos pais a responsabilidade de gerenciar a privacidade das crianças, pressupondo seu conhecimento para decisões informadas. Diante disso, este trabalho avalia a maturidade parental na gestão da privacidade dos filhos nas plataformas sociais. Primeiramente, identificamos os principais atributos de privacidade relevantes para a proteção de dados online de crianças, com base na análise das leis e regulamentações vigentes, como a GDPR, a COPPA e a LGPD. Na segunda etapa, entrevistamos 77 pais e responsáveis para avaliar seu nível de maturidade no gerenciamento de medidas relacionadas à privacidade.Os resultados revelam uma discrepância significativa entre o conhecimento percebido e o conhecimento real, indicando que muitos pais podem não estar adequadamente preparados para desempenhar o papel exigido pelas regulamentações vigentes.
