An Overview of Women’s Presence in Brazilian Graduate Programs in Computer Science – A Bibliometric Study

Abstract

Science continues to underrepresent women at all academic levels today. This also applies to the lack of representation in computer departments around the world, where recent studies show that women represent between 20 and 24% of faculty. This bibliometric study seeks to fill part of the gap in analysis of the female representation, academic production (publications) and research areas in the Brazilian Computer Science, through female faculties participating in the graduate programs in Computer Science grade 7, in the CAPES assessment, for the four-year periods 2013-2016 and 2017-2020. The results reveal similarities to those at the international level
