Remote Support for Emergency Medical Care via Mobile Devices
Abstract
Recent medical research shows the socio-economic benefits of the therapeutical treatment for Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI) compared to surgery. However, in the typical scenario, the first assistance to the infarcted patient is performed by paramedics without the needed qualification to analyze the eligibility of the patient regarding the therapeutical treatment. This paper presents a telemedicine system to make the knowledge of a specialist available, through the use of wireless communication technologies, on the location the patient receives his/her first assistance by non-specialized paramedics. Aspect-oriented approaches have been used in this system from its architectural specification to its implementation, and thus the system has also served as an interesting case study for a qualitative analysis of these approaches.
