The Proceedings of the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web (WebMedia 2011) bring the articles selected and presented at the edition of the event held in Florianópolis, from October 3 to 6, 2011. This edition includes 33 full papers selected from 134 full papers with an acceptance rate of 25%. Moreover, this edition includes 13 short papers of which 6 were selected from 32 submissions (19% of acceptance rate), in addition to 8 papers non-approved as a full paper. Each submitted paper was assigned to at least three program committee members for review. The symposium committee adopted a double-blind review process to provide a fair selection from the submissions.
