The Proceedings of the 33rd Thesis and Dissertation Contest (CTD 2020) of the CSBC bring the papers selected and presented in the online edition of the event, on November 16 to 20, as part of the 40th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2020) which had the theme “Artificially human or Humanly artificial? Challenges for society 5.0”. In this issue, the proceedings include 10 Master's Dissertations and 6 Ph.D. Thesis short papers. These papers were selected through a blind peer-review process, from a total of 73 Master's Dissertation and 63 Ph.D. Thesis short papers submitted. The event's program committee was coordinated by Adenilso da Silva Simão (ICMC/USP), Andreia Gentil Bonfante (UFMT) (In Memoriam), and Daniel Avila Vecchiato (UFMT), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on May, the 1st 2020, accepted for publication on June, the 11th 2020, with the final version submitted on July, the 1st 2020.
