The Proceedings of the 31st Brazilian Symposium on Databases (SBBD 2016) bring the papers selected and presented in the edition of the event held in Salvador/BA, from October 02-05, 2017. In this issue, the proceedings include 07 full papers and 29 short papers. These papers were selected through a peer-review. The event's program committee was coordinated by Javam C. Machado (UFC) and Carmem S. Hara (UFPR), who organized this volume.
