UbiAccess: An Instrument to Evaluate Equitable Access in Ubiquitous Environments

Abstract

Ubiquitous environments use contemporary technologies based on sensors and actuators that provide different forms of interaction. Equitable access to physical environments has been explored by Universal Design Principles (DU) and web accessibility has been guided by the W3C-WCAG. There is still a shortage of interaction assessment tools for ubiquitous environments, which consider aspects that go beyond traditional forms of interaction. UbiAccess is an instrument to assess the ubiquity of access, which combines aspects of Universal Design guidelines and the W3C-WCAG, aiming to contribute to the challenge of assessing access in ubiquitous environments.
