Abstract

IoT devices autonomously exchange useful information between different real-world devices. Areas such as hospitals, retail and agriculture use this technology. The HCI evaluation competition in 2023 motivates the participation of HCI students, professors and professionals to use theoretical knowledge related to the area of method to evaluate the interaction with IoT devices. Hence, this study evaluated Plantinha IoT, a smart vase with a mobile application. Techniques used: usability test with post-test interaction, user diary and heuristic evaluation with specific heuristics for ubiquitous systems. The results indicated connection problems, sensors accuracy and data inputs, synchronization, invisibility and transparency, and even the way that data is presented in the mobile application.
