Advances on ethical issues in papers submitted to the Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computational Systems - IHC

Abstract

Context: For several years, the community of the Brazilian Symposium on Human Factors in Computing Systems - IHC - has been discussing ethical issues in articles submitted and approved at the event. In 2024, a challenge was proposed to address this issue and collaborate on a set of actions and guidelines for the community. Grand Challenge: Challenge G2, "Ethics and Responsibility: Principles, Norms, and Social Implications of Human Participation in IHC Research," seeks to promote debate within the computational science community and inform society about issues involving computing technologies and their consequences for humans and other life forms. Objective: This position paper presents the progress of the IHC community, one year after the challenge was proposed.
