Analysis and Modeling of Emergent Systems in the Health Information Systems Domain

Abstract

In order to cope with the diversity of existing technologies, solutions to health problems suggest the implementation of Health Information Systems (HIS). However, the work of implementing these systems is not limited to a strictly technical view of such scenario. It is worth reflecting on information systems design practices and to which extent other perspectives are considered. This paper presents a case of a real emergent health system in which WhatsApp is used by a group of physicians as object of study. Based on the identified characteristics and behaviors, it was possible to analyze and model this type of system to understand how they affect each other. We explored systemic view and cause and effect diagram for the development of representation models.
