The Proceedings of the 17th Brazilian Symposium on Information Systems (SBSI 2021) bring the papers selected and presented in the online edition of the event held at the Federal University of Uberlândia, Uberlândia/MG, from the 7th to 10th, 2021, which had the theme "Intelligent and Omnipresent Information Systems: new challenges and opportunities". In this issue, the proceedings include 56 full papers. These papers were selected through a double-blind peer-review process, from a total of 179 full papers, which implied an acceptance rate of approximately 32%. The event's program committee was coordinated by Renata Araujo (UPM/EACHUSP) and Sean Siqueira (UNIRIO), who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on 02/06/2021, accepted for publication on 04/23/2021, with the final version submitted on 05/07/2021.
