The Proceedings of the 23rd Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web (WebMedia 2017) bring the articles selected and presented at the edition of the event held in Gramado, from October 17 to 20, 2017. This edition includes 38 full papers and 40 short papers, selected from 138 full papers and 84 short papers submissions, with acceptance rates of 27% and 47%, respectively. Each submitted paper was assigned to at least three program committee members for review. The symposium committee adopted a double-blind review process to provide a fair selection from the submissions.
