The Proceedings of the 5th Theory of Computation Meeting (ETC 2020) bring the papers selected and presented in the online edition of the event, on November 16 to 20, as part of the 40th Brazilian Computing Society Congress (CSBC 2020) which had the theme "Artificially human or Humanly artificial? Challenges for society 5.0". In this issue, the proceedings include 25 papers and 1 poster. These papers were selected through a blind peer-review process, from a total of 33 papers submitted, which implied an acceptance rate of 75.8%. The event's program committee was coordinated by Cláudia Linhares Sales, Flávio Keidi Miyazawa, Manoel Bezerra Campêlo Neto and Vinícius Fernandes dos Santos, who organized this volume. The articles in this volume were submitted on May 07, 2020, accepted for publication on June 10, 2020, with the final version submitted on June 30, 2020.
